The dream kitten was finally born!
Choosing a kitten is a complicated, responsible, and time-consuming process. First, we have to choose the right and reliable breeder, and then we have to wait for our dream kitten to be born. In my case, it was preceded by almost a year of correspondence. (You can read more about it in my blog post about choosing the right breed.)
Status of kittens by a cattery
According to my experience, there are several statuses for the kittens by a breeder. After the small kittens are born, their status would be under observation for a few weeks. In the case of Tirus, it took almost a month before our breeder wrote me an email asking me whether I still wanted him. Of course, I immediately answered yes.
Therefore, Tirus became available as a pet. After paying the deposit, his status became reserved. Let’s see what else status a kitten can have by a breeder.
- A kitten may be kept by the breeder as an opportunity for breeding.
- A kitten can be available for breeding.

Things to do after paying the deposit
After paying the deposit it is worth consulting with our breeder regarding the purchase of appropriate cat equipment and food. After they are 12 weeks old, you can bring the kittens to their new family. Until that time, the right breeder will continuously provide the future owner with photos and videos.
The dream kitten handing over process
Below you can read about the process of handing over the dream kitten, as it happened in our case. I was looking forward to the big day with great excitement. We traveled quite a distance to my Tirus. We traveled from Eger to Szigetszentmárton for him.
The order and cleanliness that welcomed us at our breeder’s place were immediately apparent. After discussing general information and useful advice, I finally saw him live.
So, He, my dream kitten was there, I could stroke him and smell the delicious little baby’s scent.
Before long, we set off for home. We were richer in experiences, on a road that I will explain in more detail in my next blog post.
